I’m so glad my computer is back! I was able to play in PSCS for a bit. Here’s what I came up with (click each for full credit info):

It’s fixed!!!! Last night DH was swapping the memory modules around when he noticed the power supply was really hot – like too hot to touch. So, he starts tapping on it and something falls and the fan starts running. So, he calls me in and I’m looking over his shoulder and I saw this wire tie in the bottom of the case and asked him why it was there. Long and short of the story – the new power supply had a plastic wire tie stuck in the fan so the fan wasn’t operating causing the ‘puter to overheat and one of the wires to short to the power supply body. When DH was tapping on the power supply he knocked the wire tie out of the fan and viola no more ‘puter problems. Then he decided to take a look at the old power supply – the fan was completely seized up – you could barely turn it by hand – so that was our culprit to begin with. I ran the Panda scan Bunny recommended to be safe, but it didn’t find anything. (Yea!) I may end up formatting the HD ‘cause Windows and IE are being a bit flakey, but we’ll have to see how energetic I get! J

I’d better run! Nadya did really well at WalMart and while I put groceries away, but now she wants to play! Who could say no to this face?

Still no luck with the desktop – thankfully my laptop is still holding up or we’d really be in trouble! LOL We didn’t hear from the guys yesterday, so I’m guessing I’ll get the bad news tomorrow regarding the new ‘puter estimate. Grrr….. If I had the time I’d try to build one myself, but I’m just not that confident or brave…yet. Bunny had some software suggestions in case it’s not hardware after all, but I can’t get the %^&* thing to stay on long enough to run them! Thanks for trying though bunny! I’m thinking ‘bout getting an external enclosure for the hard drive and running the tools on it from my laptop – it can’t hurt right?!?!
