Grrrr….
Ok, so DH and I thought that by replacing the power supply, we would have solved our problem….NOPE! The Dell is still going into hibernate mode (even though this capability has been turned off) and won’t come back – so in effect turning itself off. So, we’re back to square one. We removed the video card to force the use of on-board graphics to see if the video card was the culprit, but it wasn’t. We’ve installed speedfan to monitor temperatures, but it can’t read anything other than the hard drive….grrrr…… So, we called the local guys that have been trying to help and asked for a quote for a new desktop. Since most of the components in the Dell are specific, the only thing we can salvage is the hard drive. I guess I’ll try to eBay the 4GB of memory, the existing video card, and the new power supply and motherboard and both the old power supply and motherboard and maybe even the case. I don’t think I’ll send the processor as I’m not sure as to its stability – I think it could be donated to the local community college for their PC and networking repairs class.
