Woohoo

Today was a great day! The weather was nice, Nadya was very talkative and energetic, and one of my LOs was selected as Jenn’s Pixie Pick of the Day over at DSO. That’s the first time any of my “work” has been selected for anything. Jenn so made my day! So, you wanna see?!?! Here it is:

Jen Caputo Bend N Stack Action; Tina Chambers Breathtaking Earth WordArt

I used a new kit called Simply Spring by ShadowAngel Designs’ (aka Nikki), a sketch by Michelle Herron, WordArt by Tina Chambers, and Jen Caputo’s BendNStack action. I’m quite pleased with the results.

Let’s see, I’ve also been working diligently to complete all the challenges over at DSO so I can get the AWESOME Fairy/Pixie mega kit for February – I only have 1 left. Here’s my Scraplift/By The Numbers/Book of Me challenge entry:

Chopin Script

For this scraplift of an angel_p LO, I used another of Nikki’s kits, Always Me, a template by Tracy Drane, and Shalae Tippetts stitching action. The beautiful baby girl is all mine! :)

How ’bout one more LO for good measure? This one was for the template/quote challenges at DSO:

Myriad and Font Diner Sparkly

The template was provided by Terriann Hanks and I used Nikki’s new Oopsie Daisy kit (there’s a free sample of this kit on Nikki’s blog) and modified a vellum style by Erica Hite. My little one was waiting patiently for her Daddy when she discovered the large stuffed doggie sitting by the door. I couldn’t resist capturing her new “friend”…

Speaking of Nikki, she’s is in need of a CT! Yep – Nikki has joined the ranks of my favorite Designers! Yea Nikki!!!!! So, if you’re interested or just curious, check out her blog for more information…and while you’re there, leave her a comment to say congratulations and wish her well on this new adventure!

I guess that’s all from me – at least for now. I hope everyone enjoys the “extra” day this month and has a fabulous weekend!

Whew

Where does the time go? I can’t believe February is almost over! My mom, Nadya and I went to visit my Grandparents over the Presidents’ Day holiday last weekend and came home with the sniffles. It’s the first time Nadya has ever been congested, so it’s been a trying time for both of us. Fortunately I think we’re both on the downhill side, although I still have a bit of a cough. Then, my mother-in-law arrived for a quick visit this weekend. She wanted to go shopping, so we headed over to the Outlet Mall and the John Deere dealership. Nadya has new clothes for the Spring/Summer (and some for next year too!) and is also the proud owner of a new John Deere wagon. She really enjoyed her first ride – a tour of the garage with her Daddy. Her second ride, this time outdoors, didn’t fare as well. The wind was howling and she didn’t appreciate being blown around – not that I blame her at all! We went out again this afternoon since the wind wasn’t blowing and the temperature was in the 70s and she had a great time! To top off her weekend, her new “big girl” carseat – the forward facing one – arrived on Saturday. She meets the height and weight requirements and the shoulder straps are too short and too tight in her infant seat, so we’re moving up. I must admit I had a twinge of sadness during installation today, but that was quickly replaced with excitement – plus she looked so cute in her new Simpson Racing seat. We went ahead and took care of our weekly grocery shopping today since tomorrow’s weather is supposed to be NASTY – peak wind gusts of near 60 mph! She wasn’t too sure of the new seat at first, but quickly settled in and enjoyed the new view/perspective. She even took a little nap on the way home!

My Big Girl CarSeat

I managed to play a bit in the Trash to Treasure Hunt over at DST too! I didn’t find everything, but managed to collect a few very nice items (as my harddrive groans)! Liz Pike and all the Designers that participated did a fabulous job – thanks ladies! I’m hoping to get a LO or two done with the new goodies to finish up the last part of the “contest” – but we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Speaking of challenges, I completed 2 more for DSO…the Heritage and Colors challenges. I used Wenchd Grafix Iced Fudge kit and Paper Pack Add-On and modified one of Bunny Cates’ templates to create a LO of my Grandparents on their wedding day. I’m pleased with the results.

JaneAusten

Then I used all sorts of Commercial Use items from the Designers at DSO, plus Heather Manning and Atomic Cupcake to create this little mini-kit for the Colour Challenge. Kim always has such great swatches for us to work with! You can download my kit by clicking on the preview.

These next photos are for Bunny! LOL Bunny has been taking some amazing photos with her new camera and challenging the rest of us to do the same, so today I ventured outdoors to capture the first of my daffodils before the wind beats them to a pulp (with a couple of my beautiful baby too). I didn’t use automatic mode or even the handy scene presets – I tried to play with manual features in true Bunny fashion…and here are my results.

Curious Outside

Before I sign off I want to add that I’m saddened by the unkindness and general nastiness that has invaded, or at least reared its ugly head, in the digi-scrapping world. There is never an excuse or justification for being intentionally cruel and hurtful to someone else. Heather, Bunny, and Liz are all fabulous designers that do their best to promote the art of scrapping, to provide tools and products to help preserve our precious memories, and the resources and tips to help us along the way. Rather than retype or give further blog space to negativity, I want to say “Thanks” and send (((HUGS))) to those ladies who have kept on giving in spite of being maligned and disrespected for trying to do the right thing. You go girls!!!

That

‘s all from me – have a great night!

Happy Hump Day

It’s Wednesday – so that means it’s officially Hump Day – another week is 1/2 complete!  Make sure to check the Hunnie’s blogs – there just might be a treat for you.  As promised, I have goodies to mention….

I’ve been previewing the Brag Book pages that I’ve been working on using Wenchd Grafix Julie’s LipGloss and Bunny Cate’s Brag Book Template Set 1, so with Kristine and Bunny’s permission, those 12 pages have been released as a Brag Book freebie – but it’s only available until February 21, so head over to the Wench’s blog to snag. While you’re at it, head over to the Wenchd Store and DSO to snag Julie’s LipGloss (while it’s on sale) and Bunny’s Template set and her CU Bundle too)…
