My good friend Aaron asked if I would create a Layout using one or more of his photographs of the local Bataan Memorial statues in honor of those who have fought and died for our Freedom.  Aaron’s photos are just phenomenal, so I jumped at the chance to use them! I’ve had the pictures for awhile, but wasn’t sure how best to incorporate them – I wanted the page to be striking and thought-provoking as well as being a fitting Tribute.  Honestly, I just wasn’t sure my skills were up to par!  So, I was feeling particularly reflective this past Memorial Day and decided to face this challenge head-on.  I selected 2 of Aaron’s Bataan Memorial photographs and 1 of his stunning sunsets to begin with and then added a marbled paper for texture and the bronzed wordart from Lauren Bavin that I felt conveyed the message Aaron wanted.  Then, I just worked with blend modes and layers to create a luminous, kind of ghostly feel for the background and a small copper frame to set off the focal photo.  I sent Aaron the final result and he was very happy with it, so  I’m going to share it with you guys today (thanks to the Dancing Girls for their feedback too – I needed the reassurance!).

Heather joined as did Kristine, so I thought I’d give it a try too! I can type, I can write, I have no problems sharing my opinion, I’m home and have access to the computer, so I thought why not?!? Who wouldn’t like to make money for blogging? 

I’m just getting started – this is actually my first post! I looked over the opportunities and discovered very quickly that there is money to be made, but that I didn’t have the necessary Google Rank for most of the options. So, I joined a couple of blog rings and submitted my blog to the Open Site Directory in hopes of improving my Google Rank and be on my way to more opportunities.  I also noticed that I may want to migrate off of Blogger at some point as some of the higher-paying opportunities have blocked Blogger, WordPress and similar URLs, but that will come with time and experience.

So, what am I going to do with my “hard-earned” money? Why, support my Digital Scrapbooking habit of course! Well, and help support the Stay-At-Home-Mommy lifestyle that I have come the cherish. I see this as a win-win situation – I get paid to be home with my baby and spend time on the Internet! I only wish I had done this sooner! If you’re interested, check-out PayPerPost too.
