Sometimes I think I just shouldn’t get my hopes up or be excited! As I mentioned in an earlier post, my husband received this AWESOME job offer from a company in his home state of Oklahoma.  We thought long and hard and weighed the pros and cons and accepted the offer.  We faxed in the letter last Friday and then on Monday I called HR to start the relocation process.  Well, it turns out we received the WRONG version of the offer and the version HR is working with is not even close to being as great as the one we accepted…but HR says they don’t have to honor the one we received as it wasn’t the correct version.  Umm, ok let me get this straight, we accept an offer and fax in the letter and then the only reason we know there is an issue is because I called them, not because they actually LOOKED at the fax?!?! So, we spent hours yesterday coming up with a counter-offer that sort of blends the two offers together.  We’ll see, but if HR doesn’t accept it, it’s a no-go…the 2nd offer just doesn’t cut it – especially when compared to the first one!  This was an awesome chance on several levels – the job was better and more inline with my husband’s skills and desires (and doesn’t involve being a Gov. Contractor), the area provides better opportunities for our daughter as far as schooling and social activities, and if/when I re-enter the job market, better opportunities for me too.  Dang – I hate getting excited – I should know better by now!  And I guess on some level, I’m wondering what the point of a signed letter is if they don’t have to honor it…

Anyway, I’ll stop now and return you to your regularly scheduled day.
