Yep – I said it – we had a “perfectly” ordinary weekend and I loved it! What is “perfectly” ordinary you might ask? I suppose to some it might mean boring or lackluster, but for us it means we did a few chores (aka DH mowed 1+ acres of lawn while avoiding obstacles like dog toys, swimming pools, shrubs, trees, planters, walls, and Nadya’s playground)
while I conquered Mount Washmore…
that was Friday. Nadya loves the “tractor” aka our Craftsman riding lawn mower and is always pleased when gets to “ride” with Daddy.
On Saturday, we lounged around the house a bit to avoid the wind and then headed for a late-afternoon picnic at the park and playground time for Nadya – she is a huge fan of slides and climbing. We followed that with a stop at Dairy Queen for a frozen treat as Nadya is also a big fan of ice cream!
Often times when she first wakes up she’ll come snuggle in my lap and whisper, “Mommy – seat seat ife cream pwease.” Which translates to I’d like ice cream for breakfast please. Although we have grapes and cheerios instead – it’s still cute when she asks.
On Sunday, we planned to recuperate a bit – but Yasha thought there were a few weeds in need of his attention, so Nadya and I headed out to her playground for some time in one of her other favorite places – her car swing.
We decided to have Sonic for lunch and to get a couple of our not so driven vehicles out too. Most of you know that my Cobra is/was my motorized pride and joy – but as Nadya grew, it just wasn’t practical or comfortable for her. So, last October we invested in the dreaded “mom-mobile” aka my 2007 Ford Freestyle – which is quite nice and I do enjoy it and the comfort and convenience it offers. However, my heart will always “belong” to my Mustang! Well, Yasha, being the car guy that he is, has a couple of motorized babies – so he graciously brought out my Mustang for me (partly because it was blocking his baby) and tidied it up and then brought his F-150 Showtruck out and tidied it up. Both were in dire need of some road-time, so Nadya and I drove around the neighborhood in the Cobra and then we all went for a drive (and lunch) in the F-150. Nadya now calls it “Daddy’s Pretty Truck”. Not exactly masculine or representative of the power under the hood, but adorable nonetheless.
So, that’s our “perfectly” ordinary weekend in a nutshell – and it was indeed perfect! I’m so blessed!
On a side note, I have new kit in my store. Nadya’s Cupcake was inspired by my sweetheart’s 2nd birthday and her love of cupcakes.
Renee has created a couple of fabulous LOs – thank you Renee I LOVE them!
That’s all from me – at least for today. Nadya and I have to go grocery shopping and I’ve planned a little stop at the park too!
Have a fabulous day – and hug someone you love!
