New From Lindsay – Updated

Happy Thursday! It’s that time again – time for another fabulous Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff digital release! Lindsay has been busy creating lots of Holiday-themed stamps – this week’s release it so versatile – may I present Christmas Potpourri: image At only $5 for the entire set, you can’t go wrong – and Lindsay is still offering a FREE $1 stamp with any $5 purchase – check out her store for complete details.

My project this week is almost complete.  I did a set of 5 Fall-Themed cards using Lindsay’s Embossed Mats set and her Leaf Montage single stamp. Here’s a screen-cap of my gradient-filled stamp: image (Note to self: when creating items to be printed at Wal-Mart, use an 8×10 canvas instead of an 8.5×11 – otherwise you’ll be surprised when your images have been scaled accordingly).

I happily sent my creations (6 of them, 3 with a Thankful script background and 3 with a Grateful background, so I’d have an extra for the “case”) to Wal-Mart for printing as I wanted a semi-gloss look.  Boy was I surprised when I picked them up yesterday – see Note to self above! LOL! So I improvised, I trimmed my 2 inch image (instead of 2.5 inch) and set it aside.  Then I cut a 3×3 square from  GP CS, ran it through my Big Shot with the ‘D’Vine Swirls Cuttlebug folder. To add color I tapped my Ranger Perfect Medium pad over the raised areas and brushed with Copper Perfect Pearls. I used Pop-Dots to adhere my stamped image to my embossed mat.  The Mat was then adhered to a window card set that I purchased from my LSS, Creative Stamp Impressions (see my sidebar) – the card base and outer mat were precut in a set of 5, complete with matching envelopes.  I matted the inside the card with DP from my Debbie Mumm’s Harvest and Holidays pad (thanks Nana!) to hide the back of the embellished mat and to give a more finished look to the inside of the card. I repeated the DP on the sentiment side and added a confetti cream writing space too.  I’ll have photos of the complete ensemble later today or tomorrow as I need to finish the packaging and final card assembly of the additional cards – I do, however, have 1 completed card to show you: Fall and here’s a close-up of my Pearlie inset and stamped image: Fall Close-Up

That’s all from me.  If you didn’t arriver here from Lindsay’s blog, be sure you stop to visit her.  You’ll find the links to this week’s DT projects along with any wonderfully crafty goodies she’s created and there’s usually a Freebie for you too!

Hold the Presses! My project is complete – so I’m back to show the final results: Fall SetAll 5 cards – stamped, assembled and ready to be packaged.  Fall Box With CardsMy pretty card tote and one of the cards for display purposes. And lastly:  Fall BoxI followed the instructions on Leslie Rich’s blog – you can check them out here.  I used Metallic Copper CS (pretty sure it’s Stampin’ Up) for the tote, copper organdy ribbon for the handles, and some fabulous fall wire ribbon for the accent. I’m actually quite pleased with how the tote turned out.  I’m donating it to my Mom – there are several of her fellow teachers that are going through rough times.  I’ll let her decide how to distribute the cards.

Have a fabulous Thursday!

Baby Shower Gift Card Box

It’s Thursday again! Yep – that means it’s time for another Lindsay project! Nadya and I have a baby shower to attend this weekend, so instead of a card, I put together a little gift card box. My box is based on this fabulous tutorial by Angie Tieman at SCS. lss_congratulations_box1

Instead of using my Top Note Die, I used the free Note SVG file from Beth – you can find it here. I opened the file in my SCAL software and resized it to 8.5×8.5 (keeping the dimension proportional) and then duplicated the shape so I’d have 2 cuts – one for the front and one for the back.  I loaded up some Bazzill Blue textured CS into the Cricut and cut away!  For the 2nd layer, I resized the shapes again to be 8×8 (again keeping them proportional).  This time I used some DP from Melissa Frances’ Hush A Bye Boy kit. I trimmed one edge of each of the shapes to be straight so that it would adhere to the box evenly and added the faux stitching with a black Micron pen. Following Angie’s directions, I created my box with the same Bazzill Blue CS and used Fiskars Glue Dots to adhere the tabs. The ribbon/fiber is also from Melissa’s Hush a Bye Boy page kit (the last of it – sigh).  Once my box was put together, I started working on my image.  The Congratulations sentiment is from Lindsay’s All Around Phrases set and the Baby shoes are from her Babies and Bows set.  I used a digital paper from Kristine (that I recolored) to “colorize” the dots in the sentiment and as the color fill for the laces.  I printed the image on Georgia Pacific CS and then trimmed it with my nestabilities (2.5 inch circle).  The scallop mat is cut from a scrap of DP from Melissa’s Hush a Bye Boy kit.  I colored the shoes with Copic and Prismacolor markers and then accented the eyelets and laces with Sakura pens. Then I put everything together – now I just have to go buy the gift card!  lss_recipe_preview If you didn’t come here from Lindsay’s blog, be sure to visit! She has a new recipe card set in her Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff store and a fabulous Christmas freebie on her blog – plus you’ll want to get the links to all of the other DT blogs – the ladies have some awesome inspiration for you this week!

Have a fabulous Thursday – we’re off to swimming lessons this afternoon!
