For my project, I created a set of 12 coordinated cards, 2 of each design. My Mom will be changing schools this Fall – she’s really excited, but that means leaving behind some great friends. So, she asked me to design something she could give to these special people.
These cards were fun to make and came together rather quickly. I started with Tiffany’s Dogwood Branch digital stamp in Photoshop. I resized it to fit inside a 3” square and went to work from there. I wanted to create a digital version of Pat Huntoon’s Out of The Box technique (Technique Junkies newsletter, Oct 2004), so I “drew” a frame around the image at 2.25” from center. I created the background color and highlighted the Dogwood Branch using styles by Jodiann – in this case both of her Chalkies sets. Then I added a bit of script handwriting using a brush from Obsidian Dawn (love her stuff too)!!
I was able to put 6 on a page, so I printed 2 pages on my HP and them trimmed them with my large squares nestabilities. I added the photo-corners (purchased years ago) for a bit of color – it was by pure luck that they matched perfectly! The card bases were really easy too! I selected 6 different Cuttlebug folders (D’Vine Swirls, Swiss Dots, Textile, Stylized Flowers, Birds and Swirls, and Floral Fantasy) and embossed 2 cards per design. I added 1/2” sheer white organdy ribbon threaded through a ribbon slide (SU Hodgepodge hardware from ages ago) to the embossed bases and layered my image panel over the ribbon. I purposefully did not include a sentiment so that my Mom could personalize each card herself. ![]()
There you have it – all in all, this set was really simple to assemble and my Mom was really happy with the results. I’d love to know what you think – and if you leave me a comment you will be entered to win the Dogwood Branch stamp I used plus Jodiann has graciously offered a coupon that will allow one lucky person to have their VERY own copies of her Chalkies Photoshop styles. Yea! You have until Midnight EST June 2 to leave a comment for your chance to win!
Have a great day! Your next stop is Sunghee’s blog! Happy hopping and good luck.
