Thank You05.20.10

As promised, I have returned with a complete reveal of my Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff DT project.  My camera, computer, and I have reached an agreement such that I am able to post pictures and the computer is allowed to remain intact! fingerscrossed

Nadya received several lovely gifts for her birthday thereby necessitating the creation of Thank You cards.  While rummaging through my stash of supplies in search of items to donate to a local church group who is making cards for our Troops, I found a prepackaged set of cards in a fun circle/dot pattern that I thought would be cute paired with Lindsay’s All Around Phrases and Sweet Stuff Digital Stamp sets (cupcakes are one of Nadya’s favorite things). ThankYou_SetI started out in Photoshop – I sized the Thank You Sentiment to fit inside a 3” circle, followed by the dot border and cupcake (sized accordingly). The dots and cupcake wrappers are “paper-pieced” with digital papers from Di’s Legacy 4 Life Love at 40 and Silent Love digital scrapbooking kits.  The cake portions are colored using Jodiann’s Chalkies: Vicki’s Beach styles, and the frosting is a superb style from The Scrappin Cop.  I printed my goodies and trimmed them with my 3” circle nestability.  I created mats using a 3.25” circle die and fun patterned CS from DCWV Nana’s Nursery that I embossed with my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder.  ThankYou_Cupcake I didn’t want my cards to be “flat” so I embossed the cardbases with my large and small dots texture plates (alternating, so there are 3 of each). Then I decided I wanted to create shaped cards (label 8 nestability), but I didn’t want to lose the cool ribbon stripe edge the preprinted cards had – so I pondered, and in true Lindsay style, I repurposed them as center ribbons – so I could have my shaped cards without sacrificing the “ribbon”. Once I assembled everything, I colored the cherries with my R17 copic marker and my Red and Chocolate spica markers ‘cause you know I love sparkle!!!! I added the white accent with my moonlight smooch.ThankYou_Card Now comes the hard part – writing the notes and getting them mailed!

Happy Monday05.17.10

We had a busy weekend here in the desert!  My DH spent most of his time digging up and replacing the main line from our house to our septic tank. The 30+ year old clay pipe had succumbed to a Mulberry root invasion!  A HUGE Thank You thumbs_up to Mr. Rooter for their prompt and courteous service Friday evening – without their camera scope, we would not have known how much damage had occurred! We were definitely on borrowed time.

Not to fear, we did have some fun too! We were invited to a birthday party for one of DH’s coworker’s kids.  Nadya enjoyed being outdoors (no wind – hooray), and playing with the many Hoola-Hoops though I think her favorite part was the Winnie The Pooh birthday cake! I took advantage of the party invite to create a gift box and coordinating birthday card. DD_ElephantBirthdayProject

I am so loving my Cricut and Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) software – this project was really easy thanks to those handy tools!DD_ElephantBirthdayProject_Box1 DD_ElephantBirthdayProject_Box The box is based on a template by Heather M. I modified the lid using one of Penny Duncan’s awesome nesting shape SVG files and opted not to use the scalloped inner box liner/compartment.  The box base is textured green CS from DCWV, the top is DP from a Best Occasions Punch Out Pack (WalMart) that’s been in my stash for quite awhile.  I colored the adorable Dustin Pike birthday elephant in Photoshop (see how here) – actually I cheated a little, when I color a stamp and am super happy with the results, I save the file in case I want to use it later – which I did in this case – he was actually partially colored back in October/November.  I did use copics to color his tummy and Spica’s on his cupcake candle and frosting. He’s been trimmed and attached with pop-dots.  I used an orange crystal sticker for the ball on his hat.

DD_ElephantBirthdayProject_Card I had a lot of fun with the card too!  I printed the elephant twice – so that part was easy!  DD_ElephantBirthdayProject_Card_Elephant My card base is whisper white prefolded card from my stash that I embossed with my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug folder. I cut the grass, clouds, and sentiment using SCAL – the grass is from Pigtails Paper Trails, the cloud (cut in shadow blackout mode) is Cloud 9 SVGCuts, and the sentiment is from Shelly’s Art at Paper Threads (I converted the AI file into an SVG using Inkscape) though Shelly has made the SVG file available now. I cut the  grass and sentiment from DCWV CS that matches the box bottom and the clouds from scrap SU Ballet Blue DP.

That’s it – what do you think? Even my DH thought it was cute!

Have a happy Monday!
