Love Birdies01.04.11

Welcome to the first Doodle Pantry Challenge and Release of 2011! Laurie has once again provided us with more adorable digital stamps to create with.  You can preview the entire new release here.  I LOVE her new Love Birdies set – one of the perks of being on the Doodle Pantry DT is that I get to play with the new images – so of course I chose Love Birdies!  DP_LoveBirdies_wm

I started out using my Prismacolor watercolor pencils and an ArtKure water brush. After the initial color lay-down, I used Sanford Liquid Metals watercolors in white pearl to add accent around the birdies.  DP_LoveBirdies_CloseUp_wmAfter everything had dried, I used one of my favorite products, my Windsor-Newton Iridescent Medium to apply more shimmer to the heart and the roof. Another round of drying time, and I could trim the image.  I opted to remove the rope and hanger that came with the image so I could use adhesive pearls to create a chain.  The card base is embossed with a Sizzix Heart Texture Plate. The mat is white shimmer cardstock embossed with a CB folder.  After I adhered everything together, I coated the flowers in Gelly Roll clear ink and added the Stickles heart to the note.  Red adhesive pearls finished off the look.

Recipe:

  • Stamps: Doodle Pantry Love Birdies
  • Ink: HP LaserJet;  Prismacolor Watercolor Pencils
  • Paper: Georgia Pacific White; Red and Shimmer White from Stash
  • Other: Tombow Mono Adhesive; Elmer’s Glue Dots; Ribbons; Spellbinders Nestabilities Dies; Cuttlebug Hearts Embossing Folder, SU Hearts Texture Plate; Stickles, Iridescent Medium
  • Tools: Fiskars Paper Trimmer; MS Crafts Score Board; Big Shot; SU Scissors; Paint Brush

If you love Love Birdies as much as I do, you can WIN the entire set! All you have to do is join us for our 1st challenge of 2011 (DPDC5) – create a project with any Doodle Pantry image as your focal point and post it to our challenge blog – you’ll win Love Birdies just for participating!  If you don’t have any Doodle Pantry images, check out the freebie section and the new grab bag – 4 different sets available at discount prices. These sets will change out after the 20th – so you don’t want to miss out.  Also, with any purchase, Laurie is offering her Love Sentiments digital stamp set for free. So what are you waiting for?!?! Show us your Doodle Pantry creations!

Have a FABULOUS week!

Happy Thursday! I can’t believe Christmas is almost here!!! This is the first year Nadya has really been aware and is therefore VERY excited.  We will be following her Dad’s tradition of family gifts on Christmas Eve and Santa on Christmas morning. We’re also starting a tradition of our own – yesterday we procured a “special” plate and today Nadya and I will be baking cookies for Santa (and Daddy – per Nadya).  I’m looking forward to this little adventure as it will be our first time really baking together where she can be an active participant. Anyhow, with all of the festivities for Lindsay challenged us to create tags for our Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff projects this week – which I have never done before but came together rather quickly (a huge plus since Nadya hasn’t been feeling well the past couple of days).  LSS_Tags_wmI used stamps from Lindsay’s Christmas Cupcake Wrappers (available only at her Shop Handmade store) combined with my embossing folders, nesties and a Sizzix scalloped tag die.  Super easy and super cute!

This is Happy12.20.10

It’s release day at Doodle Pantry! Which also means we’re kicking off our 2nd challenge of the month and the last one for the year…the theme is something new – your interpretation from there.  You aren’t required to use a Doodle Pantry image, but Laurie has fabulous freebies to help get your collection started and there is a HUGE end-of-year sale going on – 50% off most everything (use coupon code MERRYTHANKS)!!!!  Whichever digital stamps you use, we’d love to see your creations!

I used the new Bird Bath Joy (redesigned) for an engagement card – though it could be used for almost any occasion.  DP_HappyBirdie_wm

This is my first card using an image printed on our new HP LaserJet – gotta love Black Friday! I’m beyond excited because I was able to use my favorite watercolors – Twinkling H2Os without having to worry about my image bleeding.  I also used my new nesties polygons – they were on clearance at Hobby Lobby and I had a gift card – hooray!

Recipe:

  • Stamps: Doodle Pantry Bird Bath Joy
  • Ink: HP Laserjet; Twinkling H2O Watercolor Paints
  • Paper: Georgia Pacific White; DCWV Glitter; DP from my stash
  • Other: Tombow Mono Adhesive; Elmer’s Glue Dots; Ribbons; Spellbinders Nestabilities Polygons and Scalloped Polygons Dies; MS Edge Punch
  • Tools: Fiskars Paper Trimmer; MS Crafts Score Board; ArtKure Aquapainters; Big Shot; Photoshop

Have a fabulous day!!! Don’t forget about the sale through the end of the year and this challenge!  Also, if you LOVE Doodle Pantry images, visit our CDAC group – lots of chances to showcase your creations and maybe be a guest designer (and occasionally a surprise freebie too).
