Thinking of You06.17.10

Happy Thursday! Welcome to another Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff day! smile_regular One of our neighbors is going through a rough time, so I thought I’d create a card for her.  I’ve always been a huge fan of Irises – my husband’s grandparents have beautiful ones surrounding their home in Montana.  I have a few in my yard as well, but nothing like the ones up North.  That being said, I knew Lindsay’s Iris and Bud stamp would be perfect for a Thinking of You type of card. LSS_IrisCard2 I started in Photoshop with a palette size of 2.5′”x5” and resized my image accordingly.  I duplicated the Iris layer and then colored the lower layer with Jodiann’s Chalkies Styles.  Then I set the upper flower layer blend mode to Soft Light and applied a watercolor paper texture to it.  The blue background is a fabulous digi-paper from Designs by Kristine’s new Daisy Mae kit.  I printed the flower and background layer together in addition to 2 extra flowers.  I trimmed the flower and bud and layered it with pop-up dots.  LSS_Iris I added color, shimmer, and additional detail with my Spica glitter markers (Orange, Peach, Lavender, Lemon, and Olive). The DP layer is edges with Ballet Blue (SU). I layered the assembled flower group onto a DCWV glitter panel (Holiday Mat Stack) that I edged with my Martha Stewart Loops edge punch and trimmed with sheer olive organdy ribbon. I added tiny adhesive pearls (Michaels) for a bit of dimension.  The card base is from my stash and is embossed with my Big Shot and Flourish (SU) texture plate. I dabbed Lavender ColorBox Fluid Chalk ink across the base to highlight the embossing.  The sentiment (SU-retired) is stamped in Vintage Violet (SU).

That’s all from me – be sure to visit Lindsay’s blog if you haven’t already – there’s always fabulous ideas and freebies to be found as well as the links to the other DT blogs.

Tiffany Doodles First Challenge06.06.10

tiffdood-challenges-sign Welcome to Tiffany Doodles very first challenge! Join us for a chance to win up to 7 digital stamps from the Tiffany Doodles stamps.  All you have to do is create a card based on this FABULOUS sketch from Jenyfur using any stamp you like (though we’d love it if you chose a Tiffany Toodles image – and she has LOTS of freebies available). You have until June 30th to link your project at the Tiffany Doodles blog. image Here’s what I came up with using Tiffany Doodles Cake digital stamp set. DD_CelebrateCard

I started in Photoshop, I created the mat layers and then sized the cake to fit. The digital papers are from a fantastic mini created for me by Designs by Kristine called Colors of Shannon. The cake is colored with my favorite styles – Jodiann’s Chalkies. I printed each layer individually so that I could add a few more touches during assembly.  I added sparkle to the dots with my clear Spica marker and some shine and dimension to the frosting bead using Glossy  Accents.  DD_CelebrateCard_CakeThe faux stitching was added using my white gel pen.  I created the scallop border with an EK Success punch.  I embossed the green DP with a Cuttlebug Swiss Dots D folder and added the sentiment (retired SU), stamped with Rose Red craft ink (SU) and coated with Spica glitter pen.  The card base is parchment yellow from my stash.

I guess that’s all from me! Nadya and I will be spending our last day in Montana visiting family before starting our 3-day journey home.  Have a great week!

Purse-o-nality06.03.10

Happy Thursday! Today is day 2 of Nadya’s and my road trip – we’re heading to Montana to visit her Great-Grandparents.  Yesterday we drove the first leg of our journey – to Santa Fe.  We spent the afternoon/night with my MIL – Nadya thoroughly enjoyed the swimming pool visit and carousel ride “Baba” suggested.  Now we’re heading to Denver, where we’ll have another stop over.

For today’s project, I used one of Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff fabulous new releases – Girl Thing.  I loved the purse and matching pun sentiment, so I “had” to create with them. DD_PurseCard The fun patterned paper I used to piece the purse is from Designs by Kristine – Colors of Shannon (yep – a kit named just for me!!!) as is the polka dotted DP.  The remaining colors and mats were creating using Jodiann’s Chalkies  styles – I REALLY love these styles – in case you hadn’t noticed.  I created the digital embossing behind the purse using a Photoshop filter from Akvis. The sentiment mat is digital vellum – easily created by adjusting the layer opacity and adding some shadow.  I printed everything out as individual layers so I could more easily add embellishments. The brads were added with Smooch and I added some shimmer to the sentiment with my silver Spica marker. I used Glossy Accents on the purse strap and the beads.  Instead of the clasp, I added a coordinating mini-button from my stash. DD_PurseCard_Purse

That’s all from me – if you didn’t arrive here from Lindsay’s blog, make sure you check it out.  She has a coordinating freebie and the links to the rest of the DT blogs.
