Too Stinkin’ Cute08.05.11

Is exactly what Quirky Skunk, one of the new releases from Doodle Pantry, is.  Laurie invited her previous DT members to do 1-month guest spots so this month I get to play along with the Doodle Pantry DT again. DP_Skunk_wm

Nadya is very interested in animals – skunks being one of her new favorites (thank you Critter Time @ Clinton Public library). She was super excited to see this image and immediately insisted I use Pink and Purple as my focal colors and a pink and purple skunk wouldn’t be complete without sparkle!

As this is the 1st release of the month, it’s time for a new Doodle Pantry challenge. We’d love to have you join us – the theme is to use a Doodle Pantry image. Everyone who plays along by midnight EST August 18th will receive this fabulous combo: image just in time for school to resume! In addition, 1 winner will be selected to receive a $15 Doodle Pantry gift coupon for the Doodle Pantry store. So what are you waiting for?!?!?! Smile

Have a FABULOUS Friday!

Have A Heart02.07.11

Good Morning! I can’t believe Valentine’s Day is only a week away! Since today is the 7th, we have another Tiffany Doodles challenge for you…this one is a Valentine theme.  We have made a few minor changes to our challenge – it will continue to start on the 7th, but will last only 2 weeks and, though we welcome images from any designer on our creations, if you use a Tiffany Doodles image, the grand prize is a $10 gift certificate. The runner up is $5.  I do hope you’ll join us – just create a NEW Valentine-themed project and link it here.

For my project, I used an image from Tiffany’s Hand Drawn Hearts digital stamp set. TD_Hearts_wmI love the buttons in this image and chose to pair them with awesome DP from the My Mind’s Eye Love Nest (by Carina Garner) paper pack that I found at Hobby Lobby. I LOVE the colors and textures on this paper! The buttons are painted with my Twinkling H2O paints and “stitched” with white embroidery floss.  I used a piercer to make the button holes before “sewing”.  The accent mats are from DCWV glitter stacks – cut with EK Success Edge Punches and/or Nestabilities. My card base is textured CS from Bazzill’s Pink collection – it’s a fabulous burgundy color that matched the DP perfectly.

Recipe:

  • Stamps: Tiffany Doodles Hand Drawn Hearts
  • Ink: HP LaserJet;  Twinkling H2O
  • Paper: Georgia Pacific White; Bazzill; My Mind’s Eye Love Nest; DCWV Glitter Stacks (various)
  • Other: Tombow Mono Adhesive; Elmer’s Glue Dots; Embroidery Floss; Adhesive Pearls; Piercer; Needle; EK Success Border Punch
  • Tools: Fiskars Paper Trimmer; Scor-It Score Board; Big Shot; SU Scissors; Paint Brush; Photoshop

Challenges I Played In:

Tiffany’s new store is up and running – no more blog store, which makes for a much simpler shopping experience for you! She still offers weekly freebies and $1 specials, so what are you waiting for – come create with us! Be sure to stop by the Tiffany Doodles Blog to see what the other DT members have for you and to show us your challenge creation!

That’s all from me.  We have a busy day in the Desert – pre-school followed by grocery shopping and the car wash and ending with a follow-up dr. appointment for my little one. Busy busy!  Have a fabulous week!

Music Box02.05.11

Wow – It’s been awhile since I posted! My husband lost his grandfather last month – so we travelled North to visit with family and attend the services. IMG_8053Nadya enjoyed visiting with her great-grandmother for sure – there were always surprises and fun at Grandma’s house! In addition to playing at Grandma’s house and spending time at the hotel pool (with waterslide), she was thrilled to experience “winter” since we don’t normally have really cold temperatures or snow in the Desert…until this past week!  The cold arrived Tuesday and decided to stay awhile! Today is the first day we have been above freezing outside.  The cold air and ice caused a bit of trouble for our power company, so today is also the first day we haven’t had rolling blackouts!  I am very fortunate though – my husband installed a transfer switch a couple of years ago so we were able to run on generator power as needed to keep the house warmer and the basics running.  He’s definitely a keeper!

Anyway – on to the reason you came to visit me today – my Doodle Pantry project! With this release, Laurie has included a template set (with SVG files) and some cute SVG corners along with her always fabulous digital stamps.  I knew right away that I wanted to “play” with her Pyramid Treat Box!  It’s really easy to assemble – even though I messed up the scale a bit on my first go round.  I was doubly excited because my Echo Park Paper Be Mine kit arrived – I ordered it from my friend Bunny – so if you need crafty supplies – check her blog – she can order just about anything for you!!!!  Nadya was napping when I started working with this awesome double-sided paper, but happily proclaimed she “loved” my music boxes when she finished her nap. I love the music theme and I love even more that it has a complimentary pattern on the reverse side – this way my box is pretty on the inside as well as the outside and I could reverse the accent cuts and have a coordinating theme with ease! The small pyramid has a Hershey peppermint kiss inside – it fits perfectly! I left the larger one empty so you could see the pattern inside. These will definitely be on the list for quick gift packaging – and I think they would be perfect for housing mini cupcakes and brownies…oh the possibilities!

Recipe:

  • Digital Cutting Files: Doodle Pantry Pyramid Treat Box
  • Paper: Echo Park Paper Be Mine
  • Other: Tombow Mono Adhesive; Elmer’s Glue Dots; Ribbons; Make The Cut Software, Ribbon, Puff Paint
  • Tools: Fiskars Paper Trimmer; Score-It Score Board; Cricut

I guess that’s all from me for now. I have a few more Doodle Pantry projects to show you before my term ends at the end of the month.  Crying face 6 months have flown by for sure!

Have a fabulous Saturday!
