Music Box02.05.11

Wow – It’s been awhile since I posted! My husband lost his grandfather last month – so we travelled North to visit with family and attend the services. IMG_8053Nadya enjoyed visiting with her great-grandmother for sure – there were always surprises and fun at Grandma’s house! In addition to playing at Grandma’s house and spending time at the hotel pool (with waterslide), she was thrilled to experience “winter” since we don’t normally have really cold temperatures or snow in the Desert…until this past week!  The cold arrived Tuesday and decided to stay awhile! Today is the first day we have been above freezing outside.  The cold air and ice caused a bit of trouble for our power company, so today is also the first day we haven’t had rolling blackouts!  I am very fortunate though – my husband installed a transfer switch a couple of years ago so we were able to run on generator power as needed to keep the house warmer and the basics running.  He’s definitely a keeper!

Anyway – on to the reason you came to visit me today – my Doodle Pantry project! With this release, Laurie has included a template set (with SVG files) and some cute SVG corners along with her always fabulous digital stamps.  I knew right away that I wanted to “play” with her Pyramid Treat Box!  It’s really easy to assemble – even though I messed up the scale a bit on my first go round.  I was doubly excited because my Echo Park Paper Be Mine kit arrived – I ordered it from my friend Bunny – so if you need crafty supplies – check her blog – she can order just about anything for you!!!!  Nadya was napping when I started working with this awesome double-sided paper, but happily proclaimed she “loved” my music boxes when she finished her nap. I love the music theme and I love even more that it has a complimentary pattern on the reverse side – this way my box is pretty on the inside as well as the outside and I could reverse the accent cuts and have a coordinating theme with ease! The small pyramid has a Hershey peppermint kiss inside – it fits perfectly! I left the larger one empty so you could see the pattern inside. These will definitely be on the list for quick gift packaging – and I think they would be perfect for housing mini cupcakes and brownies…oh the possibilities!

Recipe:

  • Digital Cutting Files: Doodle Pantry Pyramid Treat Box
  • Paper: Echo Park Paper Be Mine
  • Other: Tombow Mono Adhesive; Elmer’s Glue Dots; Ribbons; Make The Cut Software, Ribbon, Puff Paint
  • Tools: Fiskars Paper Trimmer; Score-It Score Board; Cricut

I guess that’s all from me for now. I have a few more Doodle Pantry projects to show you before my term ends at the end of the month.  Crying face 6 months have flown by for sure!

Have a fabulous Saturday!

Birthday Time – A Mom and Me Project01.02.11

Nadya and I spent time in the craft room this morning – we have a birthday party this afternoon, so we created coordinating cards and packaging for little Ryan’s first birthday. DD_BirthdayEnsemble_wm

All in all we are both happy with the outcome. Smile  I cut the bag topper using Make The Cut and my Cricut – a HUGE Thank You to Penny Duncan for creating the cutting file for me! Nadya selected the colors for the balloons and lettering. I also played with my Cri-Kits pens to draw the lettering outline before cutting the topper – fun, and EASY to use!BagTopper_FrontBagTopper_Back

The little swirls are from a retired SU set  called Fresh Fillers and are stamped in SU Brilliant Blue. These toppers or bag skirts really are an easy way to dress up a gift bag!

Recipe:

  • Stamps: SU Fresh Fillers
  • Digital Cutting Files: Penny Duncan Creations
  • Ink: SU Brilliant Blue; Cri-Kits Glitter Pens; Inkssentials White Gel Pen
  • Paper: DCWV Textured White 12×12; Holiday Glitter and Textured Brights Mat Stacks
  • Other: Tombow Mono Adhesive; Elmer’s Glue Dots; Ribbons; Make The Cut Software
  • Tools: Fiskars Paper Trimmer; MS Crafts Score Board; Big Shot; Cricut

After we finished the bag, we started on the cards – I made one and so did Nadya. DD_BirthdaySign_wmDD_Birthday_Nadya

We both used images from Dustin Pike – another of my favorite digi-stamp designers. For my coloring medium, I opted for my ”old school” SU markers; while Nadya selected her trusty Crayola fine-tip Pip Squeaks. She insisted we write to Ryan from Nadya on the front instead of on the inside of her card – she wanted to make sure he knew it was his. Smile

Recipe:

  • Stamps: Dustin Pike/Doodle Dragon Studios
  • Ink: HP LaserJet;  SU and Crayola Markers; Inkssentials White Gel Pen
  • Paper: Georgia Pacific White; Red and Blue from my stash
  • Other: Tombow Mono Adhesive; Elmer’s Glue Dots; Ribbons; Spellbinders Nestabilities Dies; Adhesive Pearls, Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder; SU Small Dots Texture Plate; MS Crafts Border Punch
  • Tools: Fiskars Paper Trimmer; MS Crafts Score Board; Big Shot; Photoshop

Have a restful day! Check back tomorrow as I actually SCRAPPED!

Pretty Packaging12.16.10

Just a quick post this morning – we have a million things to do!  We had a Christmas party for the staff at the preschool this week.  My last gift to my secret Santa partner was a gift card and some truffles. Sam’s club did a beautiful job with the truffle packaging so O wanted the gift card to be equally presented. I used the Pretty Packaging set from Lindsay’s Stamp Stuff along with Make The Cut to create this little surprise holder:LSS_GiftCardFront_wm

Those who know Miss Mel, know gold and sparkle are definitely “her” – so this went together beautifully.  And…my friend Bunny would be so proud of me – I used my Ranger Alcohol Inks and Mixatives to make the shimmery mat paper!  Here’s a peek at what it looked like starting out:IMG_7415

And then after I used Caramel Alcohol Ink and Gold Mixative:IMG_7419
