Calla Lily • 09.11.10
Whew! I can’t believe Saturday has arrived already! Though this particular Saturday we paused to reflect on the terrible tragedy of September 11, 2009 and fly our flag in remembrance of those who have been lost and those who are still defending our freedom. On the home front, this week definitely flew by – though we did have a MAJOR milestone at preschool – no tears (she was having a rough time with transitions)! YEA NADYA! I’m so proud of my little sweetheart! She earned her Sparks robot from Toy Story 3.
I had a chance to work with another Doodle Pantry image this week – though the circumstances were not ideal, the stamp set is lovely. One of my former coworkers lost his wife last week – so my DH and I wanted to send our condolences and let the family know they are in our thoughts and prayers. I wanted an image that conveyed both Peace and Comfort – so I knew immediately that I wanted to use the Calla Lily from Laurie’s Lily Collection.
I opted for a slightly larger 5×7 card base (vs an A2) as I wanted the focal point to be the lilies but still have enough space for modest embellishment. I used a couple of different coloring mediums – in this case magic pencils followed by shimmer chalks. I used my Score It to add the embossed frame lines before adding the pearls and handmade lace (thank you Nana!!!). The sentiment is computer generated.
